Lockdown struck the day after Mother's Day and right at the beginning of the British flower growing season, causing potential disaster for many small scale flower growers . Sadly, as we no longer had a reliable cut flower supply chain to the shop we were unable to provide online orders and deliveries during lock down. As we sat tight waiting for news of when we could re open the shop , flowers on nurseries kept growing to maturity, and with few florists in a position to buy, many flowers were lost.
Despite the Spring and early summer loss of trade we are so happy to see that out local flower nurseries are bouncing back ! When we reopened on June 15th our first delivery of glorious summer flowers was from Bow Meadow Farm who brought us an amazing selection of Kent grown flowers including Nigella, achillea, sweet peas, cornflowers, monarda and flowering herbs .
Tatchells have also been offering an amazing service delivering their beautiful blooms direct to London florists. The stunning hydrangea and giant agapanthus that we have been using in our bouquets recently are from their family nursery in Norfolk and because the have been freshly cut and delivered they have an extended vase life.
British grown flowers lease help us to support these brilliant and dedicated flower nurseries by choosing British Grown flowers when you order your flowers.
